Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul likely to be suspended

Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul during the chat show Koffee with Karan

"I made these statements in the flow of the show and had not comprehended the extent to which my statements would be found offensive".

Pandya is now with the Indian team in Australia where they recently registered a historic 2-1 Test series win, the first in India's cricketing history Down Under.

Chaudhry said that a two-match suspension as suggested by Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrator (CoA) member Vinod Rai is merely a "stop-gap arrangement" considering that the CoA had banned Australian cricketer Steve Smith and David Warner for an entire IPL season following a massive ball-tampering scandal, last year.

It must be noted here that his colleague and partner on the show KL Rahul exercised greater restraint while answering Johar's questions on women and relationships.

Pandya tried to douse the fire by saying in his response to the CoA that he was sincerely regretful for making those comments and would not repeat the behaviour.

ABC Wants The Avengers Presenting Oscars During 2019 Ceremony /Film
There had been rumours as to who might take his place, but on Wednesday night, Variety reported that for the first time since 1989, the Oscars ceremony will go ahead without a host.

While COA chief Vinod Rai has recommended a two-match ban for the players, Anirudh recommended a suspension pending inquiry and a gender sensitisation programme for the errant duo. "However, the final decision will be taken once Diana gives her to go ahead". On the show, Pandya had also boasted about getting intimate with multiple women. Pandya posted, "After reflecting on my comments on Koffee with Karan, I would like to apologise to everyone concerned who I may have hurt in any way".

BCCI acting president CK Khanna also demanded "strict action" against Pandya and Rahul, conforming with the rules and regulations but was non-committal about the quantum of punishment. According to sources, the CoA is now contemplating "whether players should even be allowed to appear on such shows which have got nothing to do with cricket", PTI reported. "The CEO may join them in the sensitisation as well as recommended by Ms. Veena Gowda, Advocate".

".the provisions of the earlier contracts and the practice in place would have required these contracted players to seek permission to appear on the show". There is even a view that the punishments for the two differ according to what each of them said on the show.

Mr. Anirudh Chaudhry said the loose talk on women could also make the two players susceptible to approaches by bookmakers through "honey-traps". "If so, by whom?" he asked in his response to Edulji.
