Inter Milan president Zhang insists Icardi staying

Chelsea transfer news

Negotiations over a new deal have not yet bore fruit, which has only further fuelled rumours that the 25-year-old could leave Inter this month.

Icardi's agent-wife Wanda Nara is reportedly demanding €9m a season for the striker to sign a new contract with Inter, leading to an apparent stand-off between the Nerazzurri and their captain.

They claim the former Sampdoria man 'will not extend his contract with the Italian side and could continue his career at Real Madrid or Chelsea'.

"Right now, Icardi's renewal with Inter is very far away", Wanda Nara told Diario AS.

Icardi is now under contract with Inter through to the end of the 2020/21 season and recent reports have suggested Inter are looking to prolong his stay at San Siro for another season.

Although it appears that AC Milan's Higuain has emerged as Sarri's number one target, Icardi, who plays for Milan's rivals Inter, could be an easier player to land. The figures being talked about in Italy aren't true and we haven't received a satisfactory proposal from Inter yet.

Australian teenager dies in Austria avalanche
BBC Weather forecaster Alina Jenkins said heavy snow hit Germany , Austria, Turkey and the Balkans on Thursday (10 January). Sydney student Max Meyer was on a holiday to Austria with his family when he was tragically caught in an avalanche.

Nara's comments would suggest that Real Madrid and Barcelona are interested in the Inter Milan captain.

"Furthermore, I'd like to point out that I am very, very happy and satisfied with the work we've done so far".

"It's not logical to renew a contract for the same amount of money that Mauro already makes. We believe that Mauro is at a superior level", she continued.

We have a very good relationship with the two biggest clubs in Spain who, are very interested in Mauro, as well as one in France and one in England.

Granted the England worldwide looks set to improve on that return this season, having already scored ten goals in 18 appearances, thought the fee quoted still seems ludicrously high.
