Investigators piece together what happened in 3 months of Jayme Closs' captivity

Jake Thomas Patterson

Investigators believe Patterson broke into James and Denise Closs' home near Barron on October 15, gunned the couple down and abducted 13-year-old Jayme Closs.

There's no evidence Patterson knew the Closses or had previous contact with them, the sheriff said.

The interior of Jake Patterson's house, where Jayme Closs was held captive for 88 days.

"She hadn't taken a bath for weeks if at all", added Peter.

"Get a weapon", Kasinskas remembered her neighbor, Jeanne Nutter, saying after she ushered them inside the home in rural Gordon, Wisconsin - about 70 miles north of where Jayme was last seen.

"In my mind, I said, 'oh, that can't be the same person, '" she said.

Kasinskas said she told the 911 dispatcher: "Jake Patterson, Jayme, this is real". "And we got to bring her home".

"When she wants information, we'll give it to her; and when she wants to tell us things, we'll take it from her", he said.

Almost three years ago, Patterson worked for one day at the same meat products facility where Jayme's parents worked - the Jennie-O Turkey Store plant in Barron. Authorities say Patterson acted alone.

The same night authorities discovered Jayme missing three months ago, police found her parents James and Denise Closs shot dead in their home.

Kasinkas called 911, and eventually Nutter spoke to the dispatcher. The call came in from Denise Closs' cell phone.

"I got my firearm out and stood by the door until the police arrived".

Jesse Jackson to discuss how we advance the movement for economic and racial justice in the United States", Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. Stewart also added that the workers compensation coverage is "vital to ensuring workers are protected for on-the-job injuries".

For months, thousands of people joined search parties as investigators received thousands of tips.

Ownership of a remote cabin where a Wisconsin teenager was apparently held during a almost 3-month disappearance passed to a credit union soon after the girl's abduction.

Nutter, who has a background as a social worker and who is a part-time academic advisor for the UW-Madison school of social work, was seemingly the ideal person to run into a distressed girl in need of immediate help.

Peter and Kristin Kasinskas, who helped rescue Closs, described the girl as "dirty", "thin" and "really exhausted and run down" after she escaped the hell house Thursday. "I tingle because I have been praying for her since it happened, I don't know the family personally but it's just wonderful", said member, Larry Leff.

"This is the nightmare case that we all, as parents, family members ... dread", FBI Special Agent Justin Tolomeo said.

Kasinskas retrieved a gun they kept inside the house and brought the teenager into her living room.

Patterson was arrested the day after Closs escaped. He was being held in Barron County's jail on preliminary charges of intentional homicide and kidnapping, and will have an initial court appearance Monday.

The girl has been reunited with relatives, who shared pictures showing her smiling with her aunt and dog.

When deputies arrested him, he was out looking for Jayme, Fitzgerald said.

Her aunt said Jayme slept well.

"It was great to know she was next to me all night", Jennifer Smith posted on Facebook on Saturday.

Her hair "was like a big dreadlock - like she'd been laying down", Kristin told The Post at her Wisconsin home.
