President Trump Allegedly Hid Details From Putin Meetings

President Donald Trump listens as he leads a roundtable discussion on border security with local leaders Friday Jan. 11 2019 in the Cabinet Room of the White House in Washington

Mr. Trump and Putin also spoke for more than two hours at their summit in Helsinki in July 2018, accompanied only by their interpreters.

Current and former US officials told the Post that after a 2017 meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Hamburg, Germany, Trump took his interpreter's notes and told her not to speak of details of the meeting with other administration officials.

"I couldn't care less", Trump said in an interview with Jeanine Pirro on Fox News on Saturday night.

'I think it's the most insulting thing I've ever been asked, ' Trump replied. "I think it's the most insulting article I've ever had written".

"The liberal media has wasted two years trying to manufacture a fake collusion scandal instead of reporting the fact that unlike President Obama, who let Russian Federation and other foreign adversaries push America around, President Trump has actually been tough on Russian Federation".

Trump's claim was disputed by Virginia Sen.

Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia says nearly all of the sanctions on Russian Federation arose in Congress because of huge concerns by both parties about Russia's actions. "Opened Inquiry Into Whether Trump Was Secretly Working On Behalf Of Russia" and suggested that the firing of former FBI Director James Comey had inspired such doubt in others within the agency that they began digging for connections between Trump and Russia.

Trump's behavior in the days around Comey's May 2017 firing helped trigger the counterintelligence part of the probe, according to the newspaper. "Counterintelligence investigators had to consider whether the president's own actions constituted a possible threat to national security", the Times wrote.

Russian Federation has denied interfering, and Trump has said repeatedly there was no collusion between his campaign and Moscow.

Military Action Explored Against Iran After September Baghdad Mortar Attack
The decision was prompted by three mortars being fired into a diplomatic quarter in Baghdad in September, the newspaper said. Tensions between the USA and Iran have risen significantly ever since Donald Trump's election as President.

The headline Trump referenced read "F.B.I".

The reports come as Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation looms large in the background, punctuated by guilty pleas, convictions and indictments of former Trump associates.

In their message to Trump, the chairmen of the Intelligence, Judiciary and Oversight committees say: "Our nation's laws prohibit efforts to discourage, intimidate, or otherwise pressure a witness not to provide testimony to Congress".

Citing current and former USA officials, the paper said that on at least one occasion, in Hamburg in 2017, Trump took away his interpreter's notes following talks and instructed that person not to discuss what had transpired with other officials. Not even classified detailed records exist to document Trump and Putin's conversations. "That meeting is up for grabs".

"I mean, I had a conversation like every president does".

Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani told the Times he had no knowledge of the counterintelligence inquiry but said that since it was opened a year and a half ago and they hadn't heard anything, apparently "they found nothing".

The president had nothing new to offer on the government shutdown or border wall dispute, as the Democrats have not been "acting responsibly", he said. "If this really did happen, Congress needs to know about it and what I want to do is make sure how could the Federal Bureau of Investigation do that?"

White House aides expressed regret that the president did not more clearly and forcefully deny being a Russian agent when asked by the usually friendly Fox News host, according to three White House aides and Republicans close to the White House.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin has defended the decision, saying the companies are undergoing a major restructuring to "sever Deripaska's control and significantly diminish his ownership". He saids Deripaska himself and any companies he controls remain under sanctions.
