Winter Weather Advisory Begins At Noon Today In Effect Until 7 am Sunday | Newsradio 1020 KDKA

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. Saturday through 7 p.m. Sunday.

The advisory is also being placed on southwest and western Pennsylvania, east central OH and northern and northern panhandle of West Virginia.

A Winter Storm WARNING is now in effect for the Quad Cities until 9pm this evening.

A mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain occurred overnight across the metro area, with more snow north and west, and some rain farther south and east.

Snow should start falling in the Delaware Valley around 8 p.m.to 10 p.m, .Saturday.

By late morning Saturday, officials had reported almost 11 inches of snow at Lambert International Airport in St. Louis, where most flights were canceled or delayed. Lesser amounts are expected south of I-70.

The storm coming through the area is a two-part storm system! Driving conditions will deteriorate rapidly once snow begins in any given location in the Advisory area.

Part two is a coastal wave coming through on Sunday.

Strong winter winds held temperatures below 40 degrees for the first time this year on Thursday, which ended a 28-day streak of above normal temperatures at Reagan National Airport, our longest stretch of "warmth" in winter in over a decade.
