George Clooney Is a Barking Military Officer in WWII Miniseries ‘Catch-22’

First ‘Catch-22’ Trailer Reveals George Clooney’s Hulu Limited Series

Hulu has released the first Catch-22 trailer for the upcoming limited series adaptation of Joseph Heller's seminal novel.

Based on Joseph Heller's novel of the same name, Catch-22 is a six-part limited series capturing the "adventures and misadventures" of a US air squadron during World War II. Based on Joseph Heller's 1961 literary classic of the same name, Catch-22 is both war satire and tragedy, giving Americans a deeply cynical perspective on what Heller saw as the needless loss of lives during a war that until than had been depicted as exclusively a noble effort. But his real problem is not the enemy, but rather his own army which keeps increasing the number of missions the men must fly to complete their service.

Clooney, Heslove and Ellen Kuras, who also serves as a producer, each directed two episodes of the series.

Amazon Digs Deeper Into Smart Home With Its Latest Acquisition
Smart home systems are notoriously complex to set up, and the interplay of devices can put a lot of strain on home WiFi systems. Eero, which was founded in 2014, has raised $90 million in funding, according to Crunchbase .

The cast includes Clooney as Lieutenant Scheisskopf, Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights) as Colonel Cathcart, Hugh Laurie (House) as Major de Coverley, Graham Patrick Martin (Major Crimes), Tessa Ferrer (Grey's Anatomy) and others.

Yet if he avoids his assignments, he will be violating Catch-22, according to which a concern for one's own safety in the face of dangers which are real and immediate is a mark of rationality. The web series is about a member of a United States bomber squadron fighting the higher-ups in the military bureaucracy and it sees George Clooney returning to TV for the first time in nearly 20 years.

The novel was previously adapted into a feature film directed by Mike Nichols in 1970, which wasn't a success at the start but has since been considered a cult favorite by critics and audiences.
