Microsoft Really Wants Internet Explorer to Die

Microsoft's security chief claims Internet Explorer isn't a web browser

Hopefully, businesses will at least relegate Internet Explorer to running legacy apps as intended, and use Microsoft's new browser for the modern web instead. Microsoft has published a whole blog post shedding light on the problems of using IE right now and why users should move to modern browsers.

The Redmond, Washington-based technology giant put an end to the Internet Explorer brand almost four years ago when it introduced Microsoft Edge as its modern browser in Windows 10.

Microsoft Internet Explorer was sent to the technology retirement home in 2015, but four years later, the company's cybersecurity specialist is warning diehard fans that it really is time to switch to a new browser.

Chris Jackson told the world in a blog post that Internet Explorer is, in fact, a "compatibility solution" and shouldn't be used as a daily driver by anyone who doesn't need to. Rather than spending resources to make them compatible with the new-age browsers, they continue to use them because they were created to be used with it.

U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren enters 2020 presidential race
But it is the story of Warren's family that also had the 2020 candidate facing fresh questions about her credibility this week. She added: "That is why I stand here today, to declare that I am a candidate for president of the United States of America".

'.As new apps are coming out with greater frequency, what we want to help you do is avoid having to miss out on a progressively larger portion of the web, ' he added.

This is understandable considering most of the working people have spent their life working on Internet Explorer and not on Edge or Google Chrome, and have built internal application which rely on its foibles. Aiming at enterprise customers, Jackson tried to explain that the companies should know the concept of "technical debt" as they are paying for extended support of older software.

Internet Explorer, which was first called Windows Internet Explorer, was first released as part of the add-on package Plus! for Windows 95 in 1995. Microsoft Edge, which launched with Windows 10, hasn't proved compelling for either businesses or consumers.

The brand has struggled to shake off the bad reputation of Internet Explorer 6, which was notoriously insecure.
