Pacers sign free agent Matthews
Once Matthews officially became a free agent, he reportedly had interest from several teams, including the Thunder, but the 6-foot-5 guard ultimately agreed to join the Indiana Pacers.
After one season with Utah and five more at Portland, Matthews signed a four-year deal with Dallas before the Mavericks traded him to NY a week before the Knicks dropped him.
"We're excited to welcome Wesley to the Pacers", team president Kevin Pritchard said.
Terms of the deal were not available.
Acquired Jan. 31 from the Mavericks in the trade that sent Kristaps Porzingis to Dallas, Matthews averaged 13.1 points per game in 44 starts for Dallas this season.
Special weather statement issued, calling for significant winter storm on Tuesday
The Seattle Times reports storms have delivered more snow to Seattle in the first days of February than it usually gets in a year. In Tacoma, hundreds of people turned out for a snowball fight in a park after someone who lives nearby suggested it on Facebook.
Matthews will help fill the void left by All-Star guard Victor Oladipo, who will miss the rest of this season with a ruptured quad tendon in his right knee.
As Wesley Matthews was weighing his free agency options recently, Russell Westbrook and Paul George tried to recruit the 10-year veteran to the Thunder.
Matthews played just two games with NY and scored 14 total points on 4-of-19 shooting.
He played two games with the Knicks after being acquired from Dallas.
