The latest WHO External Situation Report provides up-to-date details on the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), with a total of 785 cases reported from 18 health zones in the provinces of North Kivu and Ituri as of 3 February 2019. It's that African country's 10th outbreak and the world's second largest recorded.

Ebola is a rare deadly disease that mostly affects primates but can be contracted by humans, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says on its website.

It's unclear whether the patient had traveled to a place that is now experiencing an outbreak of the disease, like the Democratic Republic of Congo, or came into contact with someone who is infected. "People can get the virus through sexual contact as well".
