Pakistan: Saudi crown prince to visit Islamabad this week

Addressing a press conference along with Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry and Prime Minister s Advisor on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood in Islamabad on Wednesday, he said that Saudi Arabia is our close and trustworthy friend and the relations with the visit of Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman will be improved further.

Speaking at the presser, Dawood said that $7 billion investment would be made in Pakistan from Saudi Arabia over the next two years.

Pakistan's Foreign Ministry said the prince would meet with Prime Minister Imran Khan during the two-day visit, which begins Saturday.

The Saudi prince is coming to sign deals worth billions of dollars including an oil refinery project in Gwadar.

During his visit, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia will be signing a number of agreements and MoUs in diverse sectors, including investment, finance, power, renewable energy, internal security, media, culture and sports, it said.

Qureshi said when they took over the reins of the country, Pak-Saudi relations were strained.

Netanyahu confirms Israel attacked Iranian targets in Syria
The phrase "war with Iran" stunned many observers, given that Israel and its allies are not now at war with Iran. Iran was not invited, nor will the Palestinians have any representation at the summit.

He will be accompanied by a high-powered delegation including members of the royal family, key ministers and leading businessmen.

Continuing, he said that Commander of the Islamic Coalition General Raheel Sharif during a meeting with him [Qureshi] the other day had made it clear that the force was not specific to any country or group. Saudi Arabia has committed $6 billion to Pakistan as part of a bailout package to help shore up Islamabad's dwindling foreign currency reserves. "The Investment which the government has brought to Pakistan in the past seven months is more than the investment previous governments brought to the country in past 10 years", he added.

The foreign minister said: "He is leaving for Germany tomorrow (Thursday) to attend Munich conference on Afghan issue".

It will also send a strong message to other global investors to come to Pakistan, said Haroon Sharif, who chairs Pakistan's Board of Investment, (BoI) which promotes and facilitates investors. Following the visit of the Saudi crown prince, the BoI would remain in constant touch with their Saudi counterparts on technical level, he said.

While the current United States president, Donald Trump, said Riyadh's explanation was "credible", many others from the worldwide community condemned the killing with Germany, Norway and Denmark all ceasing the sale of arms to Saudi Arabia. It will be the crown prince's first visit to Pakistan since he was appointed heir to the throne in 2017.
