Sen. Amy Klobuchar announces bid for 2020 presidential election

CNN poll Most Democrats say bring on Biden

"Some politicians, some pundits, they look at parts of our handsome country, our Midwest area, and they put us down, saying the best is behind us", she said.

Klobuchar is now perhaps the most moderate candidate in the Democratic field-although the New York Times has called her "hardly a centrist"-as most of those who have already declared their candidacy have reinvented themselves as even further to the left than they have been in the past".

"Minnesotans in the red counties and the blue counties and all the counties in between know that Amy, she shows up".

"She's a very popular U.S. Senator who's really effective at passing legislation", Olson said Sunday.

Sen Amy Klobuchar has addressed claims from staffers that she mistreats and embarrasses her aides. We are all exhausted of the shutdowns and the putdowns, the gridlock and the grandstanding. Rubin has known Klobuchar since she was Hennepin County attorney in the 1990s and early 2000s. "And I can tell you as someone who's run some pretty tough campaigns in Southern Minnesota's rural First District, there is nobody you want on the ballot more than Amy Klobuchar", Walz said.

The backdrop for her rally was the Interstate 35 bridge over the Mississippi.

The I-35W Mississippi River bridge collapsed in August 2007, killing 13 people. Klobuchar had worked with then Senator Norm Coleman, R, to help fund the new bridge and get it completed at a faster-than-usual pace, and has cited it as an example of achieving results through bipartisan cooperation.

"We've got the opportunity to replace chaos with courage".

She added, "But that sense of community is fracturing across our nation right now, worn down by the petty and vicious nature of our politics". That's community. That's a shared story.

Palestinians warm to Netanyahu rival, citing signs of compromise
With peace talks frozen throughout most of Mr Netanyahu's decade-long rule, Mr Gantz's comments were welcomed by Palestinians. Near final results published Wednesday showed former Cabinet minister Gideon Saar finishing third in the internal party vote.

"Our laws need to be as sophisticated as the people who are breaking them", she said.

Klobuchar's focus in recent months has included prescription drug prices, a new farm bill and election security. She supported the Green New Deal, a Democratic plan proposed this past week to combat climate change and create thousands of jobs in renewable energy.

Klobuchar endorsed universal healthcare in her announcement speech, an issue that will be heavily debated during the Democratic nominating race. Her voting record is that of a traditional Democrat: she's been a past supporter of middle class tax relief, Obamacare and a minimum wage hike. Some progressives say she lacks the kind of fire and bold ideas needed to bring significant change and excite voters.

It is this approach that has given her a reputation for being "Minnesota nice" - but it also, in her early years, reportedly earned her the unflattering nickname "Cotton Candy Amy" in some circles.

Klobuchar gained national attention in 2018 when she sparred with Brett Kavanaugh during Senate hearings on his Supreme Court nomination.

When Klobuchar asked Kavanaugh whether he ever had had so much to drink that he didn't remember what happened, he turned the question around.

Unruffled, Klobuchar continued as Kavanaugh asked again. Kavanaugh later apologized to Klobuchar, whose father is an alcoholic. "I have I'd say high expectations for myself, I have high expectations for the people who work for me, but I have high expectations for this country". "I was truly trying to get to the bottom of the facts and the evidence".

Other former staffers, however, defended the senator, saying she puts in long hours and demands that her office meet the high standards she sets for herself. "That's the challenge Amy Klobuchar faces especially with Democratic activists in the primary", said Mary Anne Marsh, a Democratic strategist based in Boston.
