SpaceX's Crew Dragon suffers third straight setback

SpaceX Boeing Commercial Crew flights delayed by NASA

The date for SpaceX's initial launch, also known as Demo-1, has slipped almost two months, from January 7 to March 2, since NASA announced that January 7 launch date November 21.

The agency on Wednesday selected March 2 as the date for the first unmanned test flight, and an undisclosed date in July for when United States spacemen finally get shot back into orbit from American soil.

We're going to have to wait a bit longer to finally see astronauts take a ride aboard new spacecraft from SpaceX and Boeing.

Astronauts haven't been launched from the U.S. since the shuttering of NASA's longstanding shuttle program in 2011. The first unpiloted flight of Boeing's Starliner capsule is now targeted for the April timeframe.

The space agency says the extra time will be used to complete necessary testing and reviews as well as train flight controllers and mission managers. The agency is counting on its commercial crew program to begin operational crew rotation flights before the end of the year. Though they're essentially practice runs, they're still big launches, as the Commercial Crew Program will eventually be used to take astronauts from the United States to the International Space Station.

As well as West Ham's investigation into the incident, the Football Association have been notified. We are unable to find the spaces. "There's plenty we can improve on which is nice to know".

No one will be on board for the crew Dragon's inaugural test flight to the orbiting outpost.

NASA's commercial crew program has been delayed repeatedly over the years, forcing a lengthy, expensive reliance on Russian rockets. The unpiloted capsule will execute an autonomous rendezvous with the space station, moving in for docking the day after launch.

These initial flights in the Commercial Crew Program will be unmanned.

"NASA's Commercial Crew Program will return human spaceflight launches to U.S. soil, providing safe, reliable and cost-effective access to low-Earth orbit and the space station", the agency said, "on systems that meet safety and performance requirements". Recovery crews will haul the craft to shore for detailed post-flight examination. SpaceX already has conducted a successful on-pad abort test.

The first two SpaceX flights will ultimately be "dress rehearsals" for future missions that feature astronauts aboard, according to officials. But launch dates for both flights have just been pushed to the right, NASA announced today (Feb. 6). Unlike the Crew Dragon, the Starliner is created to land in the western United States using parachutes and airbags. That should clear the way for Boeing to launch a three-person crew - company astronaut Chris Ferguson, a former shuttle commander, and NASA astronauts Mike Fincke and Nicole Mann - in late August.
