Trump to Sign Artificial Intelligence Order

U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday will sign an executive order asking federal government agencies to dedicate more resources and investment into research, promotion and training on artificial intelligence (AI), a senior administration official said.

"By driving technological breakthroughs in AI, breaking barriers to innovation, preparing our workforce for the jobs of the future, and protecting American advantage in AI, we're ensuring artificial intelligence technologies continue to improve the lives of our people, create jobs, reflect our nation's values and keep Americans safe at home and overseas", the official said.

President Donald Trump is directing federal agencies to focus on artificial intelligence (AI), multiple outlets have reported.

Another winter storm brewing in the GTA, to arrive Tuesday
If you're driving west, London and area isn't expected to get much snow, just 5 centimeters, but freezing rain will be an issue. A low pressure system over the Southern Plains States may intensify into a storm as it tracks over Southern Ontario.

Establish standards: It will direct the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to create standards that foster the development of "reliable, robust, trustworthy, secure, portable, and interoperable AI systems".

Engage internationally: It will call for a strategy for worldwide collaboration that ensures AI is developed in a way that is consistent with American "values and interests". "What this initiative attempts to do is to bring all those together under one umbrella and show the promise of this technology for the American people", the official said.

The official also sought to allay concerns that investments in new AI technology may displace American workers, noting that the administration is "very cognizant of" the issue and has already developed programming like apprenticeships and career special education programs to address it. Eighteen other countries have beaten America to the punch in that regard.
