A 6-year-old girl who's battling cancer has had her dream come true of being sworn in as a Texas police officer.

Abigail is no stranger to fighting the "bad guys" - her name for cancer - so the community led by Police Chief Raymond Garivey Jr. rallied to giver her a proper induction ceremony.

Abigail said she wanted to become a police officer so she could fight the "bad guys": the cancer in her body.

The department invited Abigail to be sworn in as an honorary officer Thursday, under one condition: Garivey made Abigail make a promise in her oath. "So I want to help the bad guys go away and I want to help this cancer go away in like, 5 seconds".

Abigail is a little girl who had a big dream: to become a police officer.

Abigail Rose Arias, from Freeport in Texas, suffers from Wilms' tumor - a type of kidney cancer most often found in children under the age of seven. "Extremely tough, we cried for a few weeks".

"In my 27 years, this will be the best thing ever for my career, and it should be for everyone here", Freeport Police Chief Ray Garivey said.

"Abigail is battling cancer, and doctors have told the family there is no cure", they wrote, adding: "Please keep her and the Arias family in your thoughts and prayers".

Chief Ray Garivey had learned of Abigail's interest in law enforcement and dream. "You have to meet her to really understand what a great and inspiring young lady she is". "Also a special thanks to Rick Fernandez owner of Cop Stop Inc. for the wonderful FPD uniform and duty rig!" "I want to help the bad guys go away", she said.

"They beat up my body", she told the news outlet. "I felt excitement and all love", she said.
