Australia Re-Bans Homocon Milo Over NZ Comments

The move came after Milo Yiannopoulos posted comments on Facebook that said attacks like the New Zealand massacre happen because governments

Australia has denied a visa to right-wing provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos after he responded to the mosque massacre in New Zealand by branding Islam "barbaric" and "alien", officials said on Saturday (March 16).

"Yiannopoulos' comments on social media regarding the Christchurch terror attack are appalling and foment hatred and division".

Soon after terrorist Brendon Terrant had killed 49 people by entering a mosque in Christchurch, Yiannopoulos had said that attacks happened because 'the establishment panders to and mollycoddles extremist Leftism and barbaric, alien religious cultures'. "It was an act of pure evil".

The ban will be the third position the government has held in as many weeks on whether to allow the controversial figure to travel to Australia for a speaking tour later this year.

He also defended extreme American right-wing commentator Candace Owens, whom a suspected gunman in the attack named as an inspiration.

Another was a "the main manufacturing site of standard-grade rockets in the Gaza Strip", an underground location, it said. Witnesses claim to have heard powerful explosions from the air strikes which rocked buildings in Gaza and lit up the sky.

Immigration Minister David Coleman released a statement on Saturday confirming the decision to cancel Mr Yiannopoulos' visa into the country.

"I explicitly denounced violence", he said. Coleman's department had previously warned that Yiannopoulos could fail the test due to previous admissions of being a "troll", and for an unpaid bill to Victoria Police for policing events during his last tour of Australia in 2017. "And I criticized the establishment for pandering to Islamic fundamentalism".

Conservative MPs, including One Nation leader Pauline Hanson and former human rights commissioner Tim Wilson, argued that banning the alt-right speaker would be a blow to freedom of speech.

At the time, a government source said Coleman strongly disagreed with many of Yiannopoulos' views and statements but had reached the view that someone should not be banned because people disagree with them and may protest in response.

Labor MP Tony Burke took to Twitter to praise the decision to ban the speaker.
