Chrome 73 finally supports dark mode on Mac

Chrome's dark mode is all class

Google has updated Chrome for Android's Data Saver functionality to work with HTTPS pages.

Chrome's Dark Mode does look like the browser's Incognito Mode, which might make things a little confusing when you are using the private mode after having enabled the Dark Mode as there's only the Incognito badge differentiating the two browsing modes. My current data savings are around one percent due to the numerous websites now running HTTPS; that number should shoot up with this update in Chrome 73 (which should hit Google Play in the coming days).

With the release of Chrome 73 on Tuesday, the browser now natively supports the dark mode long offered in macOS Mojave.

As for Chrome 73 on Android, it brings the ability to view content on the Dino page, which means users can browse through suggested articles even when they are offline.

Now, with its official release, dark mode for Chrome will automatically activate whenever macOS' native dark mode setting is enabled on your computer.

To show users when a page has been optimised, Chrome shows a Lite icon in the URL bar, denoting that a toned down version of the page is being displayed.

Aside from Dark Mode rollout and new media playback options, Chrome 73 adds other notable features for both users and developers alike. Those are just a few of the reasons we've seen the new color scheme adopted across operating systems, browsers and social media sites in recent months.

The Android and Chrome OS versions of Chrome 73 are also expected to launch soon, though you can check out the new features early by downloading the Chrome beta. Moreover, it introduces support for progressive Web apps (PWAs), now live on all desktop platforms as well as mobile. Signed HTTP exchanges and constructible style sheets are among the other features arriving with Chrome browser's latest build.
