Donald Trump accuses Theresa May on Brexit: 'She didn't take my advice'

Trump says he sees 'signing summit' with China on trade

"I mean, she is going to do what she is going to do".

Donald Trump has criticized Theresa May's handling of the Brexit talks, while also saying the United States will stay out of Britain's negotiations over its exit from the European Union.

He said: "I gave the Prime Minister my ideas on how to negotiate it and I think you would have been successful".

Trump's pledge is likely to be welcomed by pro-Brexit lawmakers in the United Kingdom, who have signaled the value of Britain being able to negotiate its own trade deals once it leaves the E.U. Under E.U. terms, individual countries are not allowed to negotiate their own deals.

Asked if he thinks the Brexit deadline should be extended, Mr Trump said: "I think they are probably going to have to do something because right now they are in the midst of a very short period of time, at the end of the month and they are not going to be able to do that".

Trump has made the US economy and trade a cornerstone of his presidency in line with his "America First" campaign, and has sought to renegotiate pacts with China, Canada and Mexico as well as the EU.

Toxic cocktail of pollutants: Air pollution deaths are double earlier estimates
In Europe and the EU-28, it was even higher, causing 133 and 129 extra deaths a year per 100,000 people, respectively. Now the average safety limit for PM2.5 particles in the European Union is 25 micrograms per cubic metre of air.

The tariffs on steel and aluminum that Trump announced past year set off cascading trade moves.

The US President also warned it would be "very unfair to the people who won" to force Britain into a second referendum. It's a tough situation.

Trump famously dubbed himself "Mr Brexit" during his campaign - and commentators have linked his election to Britain's landmark decision in June, 2016.

In November, while visiting the UK, Trump said Prime Minister Theresa May's proposed Brexit deal with the European Union meant the UK "may not be able to trade with us" and said the proposed agreement "sounds like a great deal for the EU". "Maybe I shouldn't let you do it, I'll just get you in trouble".

In response, Mr Varadkar said: "We have a different opinion at present".
