Mobile begins piloting in-home LTE internet service

T-Mobile opens a home internet trial in rural and underserved areas

However, if it is allowed to acquire Sprint, then the New T-Mobile could provide high-speed 5G home internet to more than half the USA with capacity for 9.5 million households by 2024.

While T-Mobile's ultimate plans involve providing home internet service over 5G, for the time being it has chose to test things out with a 4G LTE pilot program.

Yep, you read that correctly - T-Mobile is about to become a home ISP, just like Verizon and AT&T. The program will be limited to current T-Mobile customers, and there's no way to request access. T-Mobile also promises the home connections will be unlimited. After using 50GB, T-Mobile customers may get lower speeds than other customers if they are in a congested network area.

With its Home Internet service, T-Mobile notes that your speeds may be lower than other customers during times of congestion due to data prioritization. T-Mobile's tech will be self-installed via a router and an app, no setup appointments (or associated fees) required.

SpaceX tests heat shields that will stop its Starship from burning up
The heat shield tiles will have microscopic pores on the outside that allow water or methane to ooze out and cool the exterior. The Starship may eventually be able to carry 100 people and 150 tons of cargo at a time on its journey to Mars .

Besides expanded home Internet service, the post-merger T-Mobile "will be armed with spectrum and network assets that will build the highest capacity wireless network in United States history, covering millions with 5G, not just a few people in a few blocks of a few cities like the other guys", T-Mobile said today. They'll pay $50 per month with autopay activated. As the company announced on its official website, it will soon begin laying a foundation for "home broadband" ahead of its merger with Sprint. There are no data caps, no contracts, and no equipment costs. T-Mobile is quick to add that the new 5G home internet services will be far faster when it launches.

T-Mobile stresses that the 50,000 home rollout is just a tiny fraction of the USA market.

The merger will reduce customer choice in mobile broadband by lowering the number of nationwide wireless carriers from four to three. That's over a quarter of Americans that have at most one choice when it comes to home internet at basic speeds, and the picture is even more bleak (45%/76% of "rural") when looking at high-speed 100Mbps+ options.
