Senator Who Blamed Muslims For New Zealand Shootings Punches Teen After Egging

Egg Boy Speaks Out After Being Tackled By “Thirty Bogans” At Anning Event

An Australian senator who sparked outrage for blaming the New Zealand mosque shootings on Muslim immigration has been hit on the head with a raw egg.

A brief scuffle ensued and the boy was arrested before being released without charge pending investigation.

49 people are confirmed dead after at least one gunman opened fire during Friday prayers at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand.

"Today's shootings in Christchurch highlight the growing fears within our community both in Australia and New Zealand over the increasing Muslim presence".

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported a fundraising page has been created to cover the boy's legal fees and help him purchase "more eggs".

No Ragrets Fraser Anning Egg Boy

The senator, Fraser Anning of Queensland, had been speaking to reporters Saturday in Melbourne at a right-wing rally.

Senator Fraser Anning, who has a history of racist comments, was egged at a news conference and proceeded to physically assault the person who egged him.

Former Australian prime minister Malcolm Turnbull wrote: 'Fraser Anning's comments today are contemptible.

"Those views have no place in Australia, let alone the Australian parliament".

Scott Morrison, the Australian prime minister, said he expects Parliament to pass a resulting censuring Mr. Anning for the statement once the next legislative session convenes. "He should be, frankly, ashamed of himself", the Aussie premier was quoted as saying.

Labor Opposition Leader Bill Shorten also slammed the "obscure" Senator.

Meanwhile, he has also received more than 30,000 comments of praise from all over the world including the Netherlands, Morocco and Egypt.

The grotesque response, as well as statements he made on Saturday about the killer, are so steeped in Islamophobia and racism that a single egg seems far too kind.

"We call on the Australian government to expel this man who blames victims for their own violent deaths, and uses references to genocide to further his hateful agenda". He was one of only 12 senators who voted against legalizing same-sex marriage in 2017 and has frequently suggested tightening immigration rule in the country, even calling for a vote on a Muslim ban in 2018.
