U.S. plans to test missiles banned by INF Treaty in 2019

Pentagon eager to test banned missiles after discarding Cold War-era nuke treaty

"We (Russia) categorically disagree with any reproaches against us to the effect that we have not kept our word on this accord (the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty)".

The missile, which is believed to have a range of 1000 km (620 miles), would be tested in August. Theoretically, they could be armed with nuclear warheads.

Trump withdrew from the treaty on February 1 and triggered a formal six-month wait period before the final expiry of the agreement.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stated Moscow's position on the INF, explaining that Russia was forced to suspend its participation in the Treaty in response to the U.S. actions "when we entered the phase of harsh disagreements with the Americans on the INF".

The new nuclear cruise missiles designing to strike targets that neither an intercontinental ballistic missile nor a submarine launched ballistic missile can strike.

Federer, Nadal, steam into Indian Wells quarters
He became the first lucky loser to reach the quarterfinals since the tournament achieved Masters 1000 status in 1990. Kecmanovic next plays 13th-seeded Canadian Milos Raonic , who beat Jan-Lennard Struff 6-4, 6-3.

Daryl Kimball, executive director of the Arms Control Association, said Wednesday the Pentagon has not yet established a military requirement for a ground-launched cruise or ballistic missile of intermediate range. By 1990, the United States and Soviet Union had verifiably destroyed about 2,700 intermediate-range missiles, nuclear disarmament expert Mariana Budjeryn of Harvard's Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies wrote last month in The Washington Post. Trump said during the event the U.S.is issuing an emergency order grounding all Boeing 737 Max 8 and Max 9 aircraft "effective immediately", in the wake of the crash of an Ethiopian Airliner that killed 157 people. Putin signed a decree suspending Moscow's compliance with the Treaty on March 4.

The defense officials told reporters that allies in Europe and Asia have not yet been consulted about the planned missile tests or if they would be deployed on their territory. If the test works in November, the Army would develop, procure and roll out the system, according to the senior defense official, who predicted that the process would take no less than five years.

However, he thinks it could be possible that the Trump administration was simply arranging for an end of the INF treaty.

As former US Senator and arms control activist Sam Nunn said at the conference: "In this new era, we are much more likely to have war by blunder or miscalculation - by interference from third parties - than from a deliberate premeditated attack". Washington on many occasions had accused Russian Federation of violating the accord, but Moscow vehemently dismissed all accusations and, in its turn, expressed grievances over Washington's non-compliance.
