Uber plans to kick off IPO in April, right after Lyft's

SoftBank, Toyota in talks to invest $1B in Uber's self-driving unit: Report

Uber was valued at about $72 billion last August, and is said to be seeking a valuation as high as $120 billion for its IPO.

In April, Uber will file its required S-1 public disclosure with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and will then launch its investor roadshow.

Uber is in a race with smaller rival Lyft, which has announced its own IPO, expected to be completed by the end of March.

Lyft seeks a valuation of United States dollars 20 to 25 billion, having been valued at USD 15 billion as a private company.

The two companies are positioned to kick off a string of hotly anticipated public debuts from highly valued tech companies, energizing the IPO market after a quiet start to the year, Reuters noted.

Softbank is already the largest investor in Uber, following a $US1.25 billion investment in January 2018 that gave it control of about 15% of the ride-hailing company.

Game of Thrones season 8 episode lengths are quite hefty
This morning HBO confirmed this by announcing the official runtimes of all six episodes, along with the air dates for each one. The last season of " Game of Thrones " is nearly here, and HBO has been careful to keep spoilers under wraps.

However, in going out so close together, the companies risk testing the limits of investors' interest in ride-sharing.

Dara Khosrowshahi, Uber's chief executive officer, ordered the San Francisco-based company to take the cars off the road for much of previous year. But the company lost $3.3 billion, excluding gains from the sale of its overseas business units in Russian Federation and Southeast Asia.

Dara Khosrowshahi, chief executive officer of Uber, has previously said a culture change is a work in progress.

Lyft revealed a loss of $911 million in 2018, but doubled its revenue to $2.2 billion from 2017.

The investment is said to provide an inflow of cash for Uber's self-driving program, which is costing the startup to lose hundreds of millions without making any revenue.

A group of investors including SoftBank Group is in talks to invest $1 billion or more into Uber's self-driving vehicle unit, The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday. Taking on large investors that will influence a key business is an unusual move for a company so close to an IPO.
