Beyonce drops surprise live album

Her new documentary on Netflix titled Homecoming just went live on Netflix and along with it, comes a new album featuring live versions of all songs she performed at Coachella a year ago.

"Homecoming: the live album" is a 40-track piece featuring live versions of all of Beyoncé's hit songs such as 'Crazy In Love, ' 'Formation, ' 'If I Were A Boy, ' 'Drunk In Love, ' and 'Freedom'.

Bey's last solo album, Lemonade, was released in 2016, and earned rave reviews from critics and fans alike for revealing a new side to her and offering insight into her marriage to JAY-Z.

Since it was teased a week ago, fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of Homecoming: A Film By Beyoncé, which follows Beyoncé in the lead-up to her game-changing headlining "Beychella" set at Coachella previous year. She was the festival's first black woman to headline, and the career-spanning set, which featured 60+ people on stage as a marching band and dancers, decked out in fictional Beyoncé university wear, was a schooling and celebration of blackness.

Beyoncé is all about surprises, and her latest arrives today (April 17) in the form of a live album.

While the trailer for the Homecoming film has been circulating on Youtube for the past week, plans to release the performance as an album were kept mum until Beyonce herself tweeted the link at midnight PST. The Homecoming film is now available on Netflix.
