House Democrats give IRS an extension to provide Trump tax returns

White House considered releasing detained immigrants into ‘sanctuary cities’

Trump argues that he can not release his tax returns because they are being audited, but the IRS has said this is no impediment to their release.

"We can give them an unlimited supply ..." This has nothing to do with whether or not they are going to determine policy.

Meanwhile, Sen. Rick Scott, Florida Republican, said sanctuary cities themselves are illegal, but he also stressed it would be improper for the president to instruct anyone to break the law. He also purged his homeland security chief.

The report noted that it was unclear if the comment from Trump was a joke, and the Department of Homeland Security said in a statement that Trump had not directed McAleenan "to do anything illegal".

Yet he has done nothing concrete to stem the human tide across America's southern border - and is even being compared to Angela Merkel, whose decision to open Germany's borders to migrants in 2015 has blighted her chancellorship. "They should not say, 'This is retribution politically.' They should say, 'This is an olive branch, '" according to The Hill.

So-called sanctuary cities are locations where local authorities actively do not work with Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials to help round up people living in the country illegally.

"So the president said fine, I've got a great idea. He's using the immigrants as pawns in his political game of chess". The former textile factory worker relies on his mother's income from waitressing for food and clothing and he's started thinking about asking legal permission to move to North Carolina, where an uncle resides and says it's cheaper to live and work.

Mnuchin, who has consulted with the White House and Department of Justice about Trump's tax returns, said earlier this week that Neal's request raised concerns about the scope of the committee's authority, privacy protections for US taxpayers and the legislative goal of lawmakers in seeking the documents. "They never call to check for truth". Mr Trump in recent weeks, for instance, has discussed the idea of renewing his administration's controversial family separation policy - even as he's publicly declared he won't do that - and has threatened to completely seal the border despite opposition from many in his administration.

"We can fix that so fast, if the Democrats would agree", otherwise "we bring them to sanctuary city areas and let that particular area take care of it". Obviously, given the importance of this issue we have people working on this diligently.

The New York Democrat said immigrants have a right to go through the process of seeking asylum. "The only thing you can do is, as an administration is, release them into American communities".

In response, some cities have banished ICE from jails where agents could easily pick up immigration violators.

A new letter by Rep. Richard Neal, the House Ways and Means Committee chairman, comes after the Trump administration asked for more time to consider his initial request last week.
