Microsoft brings screen sharing support to Skype app on iOS and Android

Skype adds screen sharing on iOS and Android - GSMArena.com news

Tests are ongoing both on Android and iOS versions of the app, which will allow screen sharing. Microsoft made it clear Apple's mobile OS would support the feature, so it's probably just a matter of time rather than anything serious. Apple device owners who want the Skype Preview iOS app will need to get it through Apple's TestFlight program. It's incredibly handy when you need to help a friend or family member diagnose an issue, or demonstrate how to use a certain app or feature. Microsoft confirmed in a blog post that users in the Skype Insider preview program can play with the new feature as of Thursday.

Separately, Skype has announced that users will now be able to call up to 50 people on a video or audio group call. Its absence on bigger platforms has allowed smaller apps that offer mobile screen sharing, like Squad, to fill the void. The screenshots shared by Microsoft note that everything is displayed on your screen, including existing and newly incoming notifications, will be shared with others while using the screen sharing feature.

Adding this feature also brings Skype up to speed with other business-oriented apps, such as Cisco's WebEx or GoTo Meeting.

Skype's video calling feature on the mobile phone is fairly basic. It has been trained to detect your hair, hands, and arms, which enables you to make a call with background blur in a more relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. The feature is definitely promising and very useful so we can expect it to see it on the stable version soon. "Starting today, Skype has you covered", the company says.
