US Attorney General Expected to Face Mueller Report Questions

Top Democrat says Mueller will be called to testify to Congress — but with an important caveat

Fox News is also told that the Justice Department's Inspector General (IG) is separately looking into whether former FBI Director James Comey mishandled classified information by including a variety of sensitive matters in his private memos, including the name and code name of a confidential human source.

Aderholt was referring to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant the Federal Bureau of Investigation used to surveil former Trump campaign associate Carter Page over the course of a year.

Barr's letter also revealed that the Special Counsel did "not conclude that the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him", regarding obstruction of justice charges.

The Mueller report is not the goal of the meeting, and in a prepared statement released ahead of the session Barr does not mention it.

"If this is a 400-page report.to send us a four-page summary that just talks about the high-level conclusions is potentially misleading", Coons said.

Barr, appearing before a Senate panel, did not say what "spying" had taken place but seemed likely to be alluding to a surveillance warrant the Federal Bureau of Investigation obtained on a Trump associate.

Pete Buttigieg to Mike Pence: 'Your Quarrel Is With My Creator'
Shortly before Buttigieg came out, Pence signed a religious freedom bill that his opponents said targeted homosexuals. Moreover, during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Buttigieg said of Mr.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler of NY tweeted that Barr's comments "directly contradict" what the Justice Department previously has said, and intelligence committee Chairman Adam Schiff of California said Barr's testimony surely pleases Trump but "also strikes another destructive blow to our democratic institutions".

Barr has said he will release a redacted version of Mueller's report by mid-April and has agreed to appear before Congress on the matter in early May.

Mueller concluded that neither Trump nor anyone in his campaign colluded with Russian Federation.

At the White House on Wednesday, Trump repeated his claim that the investigation was illegal. "There were dirty cops", he said. "I don't know if people should get their hopes up for the full Mueller report, because based on Barr's letter, there's probably not going to be a chapter in there called 'Impeachable Stuff.'" Still, Roy Wood Jr. had a solution for people still holding out hope for really damning news. Barr released to the public a four-page summary of its principal conclusions two days after Mueller submitted his report, but many Democrats have called for the full report to be released. Barr didn't answer, insisting he has said everything he planned to say about the report until it comes out.

There have been concerns within the Justice Department that it is too easy to open an investigation.

Though he said the document will be redacted to withhold negative information about peripheral figures in the investigation, he said that would not apply to Trump, who is an officeholder and central to the probe.
