Did Le'Veon Bell cost former Jets GM his job?

General manager Mike Maccagnan was fired on Wednesday

"This morning, I informed Mike that he was being relieved of his duties as General Manager of the team, effective immediately", Jets chairman Christopher Johnson said in a release. "However, I came to the decision to make a change after much thought and a careful assessment of what would be in the best long-term interests of the New York Jets".

Yahoo Sports senior National Football League reporter Charles Robinson tweeted that "philosophical differences bubbled up" between Gase and Maccagnan "on how money would be spent to build". I will start a search for our new General Manager immediately.

On Wednesday, the New York Jets shocked the football world when they unexpectedly fired general manager Mike Maccagnan and made Adam Gase the interim GM.

Only 12 of the 22 players selected in his first three years are still on New York's roster. The Jets and Bell agreed to a four year, $52.5 million contract in March that includes $25 million guaranteed.

The Wrecking Ball singer filmed scenes for the fifth instalment, shooting alongside Marc Menchaca ( Ozark ), in South Africa.

Bears assistant director of player personnel Champ Kelly was one of two names mentioned Wednesday by NFL Media's Ian Rapoport as the Jets' potential replacement hire for Maccagnan. "It kind of pisses me off a little bit".

"I don't know who decides to put that stuff out there", Gase said. However, Gase and Maccagnan reportedly disagreed on quite a few things, one of those being the acquiring of Jets running back, Le'Veon Bell. Head Coach Todd Bowles paid the price with his job in the off-season, but Maccagnan was seemingly handed a reprieve and was given the green light to mount a particularly aggressive offseason.

ESPN suggests the GM position could be taken up by Philadelphia Eagles executive Joe Douglas, who has some ties to Gase.
