Russia not 'fire brigade' to save Iran deal, says Putin

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo right is greeted by Britain's Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt in central London

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Sochi, Russia, Tuesday where the two discussed issues including Iran, Venezuela and the 2020 elections. There are also other facets for our cooperation in economic security."Pompeo, on the other hand, said that the two sides engaged in "a productive set of conversations."There are places we disagree".

During a joint press conference with Austrian counterpart Alexander Van der Bellen, Putin said: "I have repeatedly said during the talks with our Iranian partners that, to my mind, it would be more expedient for Iran to remain in this agreement at whatever cost". "Our elections are important and sacred and they must be free and fair".

Trump has voiced a desire since his presidential campaign to cooperate with Russian Federation on global challenges.

"Such insinuations are absolutely fake", he said.

The fact that the latest missile test-firing took place right at a time when US Special Representative for North Korea Stephen Biegun was visiting South Korea also indicates that Pyongyang is determined to pile pressure on Washington in order to force the issue over the US-North Korea talks.

Trump stunned Russian officials in November by scrapping a meeting with Putin at last year's G20 summit in Argentina with a Twitter announcement the day before the talks, blaming tensions over Russia's capture of Ukrainian sailors. "And I think that our talks here today were a good step in this direction", said Pompeo. He later called on "every country that's interfering in Venezuela to cease doing that".

Bitcoin passes $7,000 level as winning streak continues
This occurs when the 50-day simple moving average has crossed above the 200-day moving average. A year ago it lost some three-quarters of its value amid tighter regulation across the world.

Pompeo said that he spoke both to Lavrov and, on Monday in Brussels, to European allies about the threat the United States sees from Iran.

Iranian officials said last week that if the world community doesn't rework the agreement within 60 days, then they will begin enriching uranium to near-weapons-grade levels. "Everything will depend on what our U.S. partners want", Ushakov said. -Russian efforts to bring a United Nations -brokered end to the war that began in 2011 fell apart in 2016.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has "brought nothing but misery to the Venezuelan people", Pompeo said, "and we hope that Russia's support for Maduro will end".

The move was reportedly a response to Tehran's alleged plans to carry out attacks on U.S. forces and allies in the Middle East.

And given the ongoing trade war between the U.S. and China, Beijing might not necessarily be willing to mediate this time around, thereby rendering the current crisis in the Korean Peninsula even more hard to resolve.

Earlier Wednesday Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed concern that tensions over Iran escalated despite assurances from Pompeo that Washington was not seeking war.
