Tim Conway dies comedian’s comedian and ‘Carol Burnett Show’ star was 85

Conway died at 8:45 a.m.in the Los Angeles area.

According to People, before his death, "he suffered complications from Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) and had no signs of dementia or Alzheimer's". It was his work in Carol Burnett's variety show that really stood out, however, as he earned a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor in the series as well as several Primetime Emmys. The ensemble cast surrounding the redheaded star included Vicki Lawrence and Lyle Waggoner. His most-beloved Burnett show characters were the Oldest Man and Mr. Tudball.

She said Conway would stick with a sketch's script through dress rehearsal but once it was time to tape the performance for a broadcast, he began freelancing. He starred in live-action Disney movies, including The Apple Dumpling Gang with Don Knotts and The Shaggy D.A.

Conway was born on December 15, 1933, just outside of Cleveland, Ohio, in nearby Willoughby, Illinois.

Conway would also enjoy memorable guest roles in series like Married. with Children and Yes, Dear, along with voicing Barnacle Boy in SpongeBob SquarePants. He graduated from Bowling Green State University with a double major in speech and radio.

He was nominated for 13 Emmys and won six during the course of his career including four for his work on "The Carol Burnett Show", and two more for guest appearances on "Coach" and "30 Rock".

Conway first found television fame on the 1960s comedy "McHale's Navy" playing Ensign Parker, a befuddled by-the-book officer in a group of unconventional sailors in the Pacific during World War Two.

Conway and his wife, Mary Anne Dalton, married in 1961 and had six children.
