Window cleaners rescued from swinging scaffold atop 50-storey skyscraper

Window washers stuck in lift basket sent swinging by high winds

Two people, believed to be window cleaners, have been rescued from a lift near the top of an approximately 850-foot skyscraper in Oklahoma City.

In the video, the basket can be seen crashing into the tower's roof extensions, breaking windows and sending broken glass to the sidewalks underneath.

The two men became stranded shortly before 7.45am on Wednesday outside the tower.

Macy said firefighters secured the scaffold with ropes as it dangled from a crane, 20-30 feet above the roof. They were evaluated by paramedics at the scene but declined medical treatment.

Myanmar passenger jet lands safely after landing gear fails
Heart in mouth, bystanders were able to film the miraculous emergency landing which was safely - if not gracefully - performed. The airline confirmed that there were no injuries from the incident and the pilot carefully landed the plane onto the runway.

The two people were rescued around 8:30 a.m. and are safe, fire officials say.

The cause of the accident was not immediately known.

"It appears as though it went as smoothly as it probably possibly could have in a situation like this, due to the timeframe by which we know that they were actually rescued", he said.

One Twitter user, sharing dramatic footage of the incident, earlier wrote: "Happening right now: workers stuck on a lift or window washing scaffold are trapped in high winds at Devon Tower in Oklahoma City".
