Google to remove auto-syncing between Google Drive and Google Photos

Google Photos stops syncing with Google Drive in July

"Any photos or videos from Drive in Photos that you have uploaded prior to this change will remain in Photos", added Google.

The idea is that your Drive folder called Google Photos automatically syncs to the service with the same name.

Google says the changes are being made to simplify features that caused confusion for users. Google Photos will have a "Upload from Drive" feature to allow for easy importing, but there's no such luck in the opposite direction, which is huge bummer for me and for all Chromebook users.

According to Google, this change is created to prevent the accidental deletion of items across products.

"Starting in July, new photos and videos from Drive won't automatically show in Photos".

Ethnicity & Nationality for French Open Finalist — Ashleigh Barty
She nearly bottled it again in the semi-finals to Amanda Anisimova. "So I'm not sure what she's going to expect now". Andrea Petkovic and Keys were nearly happy to get "their ass beaten", Vondrousva called it a tennis lesson.

Once this change takes place, new photos and videos from Google Drive will not automatically appear in Google Photos.

Google's Backup and Sync tool will continue to function as you would expect, and is capable to uploading files to both Drive and Photos.

While these changes will affect any photos or videos added to either service from July 10, existing media will remain where it is, although its connection to either service will be severed - so modifying or deleting files on one won't affect the other. Once copied, the files are not connected; in other words, if you delete a photo in Drive it will not delete its copy in Photos or vice versa. Similarly, those that you upload on Drive will not be synced to your Photos app anymore since you probably don't need them to be there anyway. But items uploaded using Backup and Sync in Original Quality to both services will count only once towards your total online storage quota.

Luckily, one thing about all of this is very straightforward: when July 10 comes along, all your current files in both Google Drive and Google Photos will remain unchanged.
