Red Sox' David Ortiz Underwent Successful Surgery at Massachusetts General

David Ortiz

His father added: "Big Papi will be around for a long time".

On Tuesday, Tiffany released a statement through the Boston Red Sox to thank the franchise for their efforts to have a plane ready for him to take him from his hometown in Santo Domingo to bring her 43-year-old husband home. "Ortiz is now in intensive care, but considered stable". "We as for privacy as David works towards recovery".

He had helped rally the city after the Boston Marathon bombings that year, giving a speech at Fenway Park, telling the crowd to stay "Boston strong".

Ortiz was then taken by ambulance, with a police escort, to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he will continue to receive medical attention. Doctors removed his gallbladder and part of his colon and intestines. The motive was initially reported to be robbery, but security-camera footage from the lounge suggested a coordinated ambush.

López was shot in the leg, and his injuries were not life-threatening, said his wife, Liza Blanco, who is also a TV host.

Garcia reportedly confessed to being involved in the shooting, according to Frank Félix Duran, a spokesman for the Dominican Republic National Police.

It wasn't clear if Garcia was seen on video pulling the trigger. A second suspect remains at large. Local authorities are waiting for him to undergo treatment before questioning him.

Tit-for-tat: China ready to respond if U.S. escalates trade war
Washington has put Huawei on a blacklist that effectively bars US firms from selling to the company without government approval. They don't want to exactly say that, so they go out and try to buy the companies.

Police have not yet released the identity of the suspected gunman.

Ortiz began his major league career by playing six seasons for the Minnesota Twins (1997-2002), but his career blossomed after he joined the Red Sox.

Prior to the start of the Red Sox game, a moment of reflection was held for Ortiz, a 10-time All-Star and a member of three Red Sox World Series championship teams. A message reading "We send our love to David Ortiz" was flashed on one of the ballpark's scoreboards.

There were few bigger personalities in the game when Ortiz was in his prime, and perhaps nobody more beloved.

The Red Sox icon underwent surgery in the D.R. and was transported to Boston on Monday, where he again underwent surgery. Two others were also wounded during the attack.

"I'm so disappointed to know that someone like David, who has saved so many lives, can have someone after his life", Martinez said, before being overcome with emotion.
