Three details 5G rollout plan, starts in August with 5G home broadband

Three claims that it has more 5G spectrum that the other big United Kingdom operators and that its network will be capable of hitting peak speeds that are "at least 2x faster" than its rivals.

Three's eyebrow-raising speed claims are based on it having more 5G spectrum than rival networks, with 140MHz of the stuff.

Dave Dyson, CEO at Three, said: "It's clear that consumers and businesses want more and more data". But while that's later than EE or Vodafone, Three looks to have some advantages, as it claims to be the only United Kingdom network that will be offering a "true" 5G experience.

"We have the UK's best network for data and we have led the market on customer usage on both 3G and 4G technologies".

"We have worked hard over a long period of time to be able to offer the best end-to-end 5G experience".

Maurizio Sarri Reportedly Set To Sign 3-Year Deal With Juventus
Gareth Southgate and England will be in action on Sunday as they face Switzerland in the Nations League third-place play-off. Maurizio Sarri has recently completed his first season in English football.

Three will be releasing more details and the prices of its 5G handsets and contracts later this month.

Specifically, it's set to land in London, Birmingham, Bolton, Bradford, Brighton, Bristol, Cardiff, Coventry, Derby, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Hull, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, Manchester, Middlesbrough, Milton Keynes, Nottingham, Reading, Rotherham, Sheffield, Slough, Sunderland and Wolverhampton. Just for some context, a lot of the latest 4G hardware today can cope with 1Gbps speeds but you rarely ever see it reach anything like that high when you connect. Three claims its speeds will be at least twice as fast as the competition at peak times.

United Kingdom consumers are predicted to consume 13 times more mobile data in 2025 than today and 5G is hoped to cater with this extra demand.

It sounds like Three's 5G network will grow rapidly too, with the company saying that in the next three years it expects it to cover 80% of Three's network traffic. Then things changed. Last May EE said it was aiming for a 2019 launch (which it accomplished), in September Vodafone also confirmed it wanted consumer 5G to be available this year, and back in February O2 pulled its launch date forward as well.

We'll bring you more news as we get it. So even if you don't have 5G in your area for a while, you might get a 4G service that comes close.
