Vikings signing TE Rudolph to 4-year extension

Sources: Vikes extend Rudolph for 4 years, $36M

The veteran Vikings tight end reportedly received a four-year, $36 million contract extension Monday night, effectively ending any possibility of New England trading for him before the season.

Let's take a look at five players the Minnesota Vikings should have locked down with a contract extension before coming to terms with Kyle Rudolph, starting with a player who earned a deal, but likely won't get one.

Last year, he recorded 634 yards on 64 receptions and hauled in four touchdowns. He made the Pro Bowl in 2012 and 2017. The ninth-year tight end married his wife, Jordan, had three children and has been an active member in the Twin Cities community through his philanthropic work with the establishment of Kyle Rudolph's End Zone at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital.

Police in Hungary lift capsized tourist boat from Danube
Several bodies have been recovered from wreckage during the salvaging of a tour boat that sank in the Danube River in Budapest. The captain was held under suspicion of misconduct in waterborne traffic leading to mass casualties, police have said.

It will be interesting to see how Rudolph's deal is structured and how much money is guaranteed. Rudolph's previous deal, set to expire after 2019, carried a $7.625 million cap hit this season for a team in dire need of space.

Yet throughout the whole process, one of Rudolph's biggest concerns was moving his family out of Minnesota for the first time in his National Football League career.
