Former Met and Yankee Dwight Gooden is facing multiple drug charges

Ex-pitcher Dwight Gooden charged with drug possession

Former major league pitcher Dwight Gooden was arrested last month on suspicion of possession of cocaine, according to a complaint from the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office that was obtained by multiple outlets.

The Post says that Gooden was pulled over for driving too slowly on a highway and for failing to maintain the lane.

The Post learned that the former pitcher, known by the moniker, "Doc", was arrested on the 7th of June by Holmdel police.

A court date in Gooden's case is scheduled for July 23.

Drug addiction is a disease that is sometimes hard to fight. Gooden is now 54-years-old, and he was first sent to a rehabilitation facility in 1987 for cocaine possession. The Post also reports he was ticketed for driving under the influence.

White House kills rebate rule aimed at lowering drug prices
But without insurers getting the rebates, the bottom line would have been an increase in premiums. Drugmakers preferred the consumer rebate approach to other ideas that lawmakers are considering.

Former MLB star and Cy Young victor Doc Gooden is in more legal trouble.

Roots" letter came after Darryl Strawberry - Gooden's longtime teammate with the Mets and Yankees who also battled drug problems - told the Daily News that the three-time World Series victor was a "complete junkie addict' after he failed to show for a WFAN radio event. He served prison time in 2006 for violating probation and charged with a DWI in 2010. Three years ago in 2016, he said to the New York Post that he had been sober since going to rehab four years prior to that.

A year later, Gooden was given a key to the city by Mayor Bill de Blasio with Strawberry and other members of the World Champion 1986 Mets in attendance, such as Jesse Orrosco and Bobby Ojeda.

Gooden won the National League Cy Young Award at age 20 in his second big league season when he went 24-4 with a 1.53 ERA and had eight shutouts for the Mets in 1985.

If the New York Mets ship away Noah Syndergaard, general manager Brodie Van Wagenen should demand a haul in return.
