Joe Taslim joins James Wan's Mortal Kombat reboot

Mortal Kombat Movie Casts Sub-Zero

Considering all of the impressive martial arts seen in that movie, Taslim is a great choice to play Sub-Zero and his casting could mean some impressive fight scenes for the film.

All three are characters that were featured in the very first game, with Scorpion and Sub-Zero famously being palette-swapped duplicates of the same ninja sprite (perhaps this is the reason they've always been such bitter adversaries).

Joe Taslim will star as Sub-Zero in the upcoming Mortal Kombat movie reboot. Not only is it finally going to happen, but according to a new report, the first major part has been cast. Also, watch Taslim in The Raid. Taslim most recently starred in Cinemax's Warrior.

Developed by Midway Games in 1992, "Mortal Kombat" is a series of horror/fantasy-themed fighting games in which a group of martial artists (and a God) are assembled to compete in a series of fights against demonic opponents in order to prevent the destruction of earth. To note, it is said that the shoot for the Mortal Kombat movie will take place in southern Australia.

His filmography is none too shabby either, with an award-winning role in the 2011 Indonesian crime film The Raid, as well as appearances in high-profile Hollywood movies such as Fast & Furious 6 and Star Trek Beyond. Larry Kasanoff, E. Bennett Walsh, Michael Clear, and Sean Robins will executive produce. Aside from spearheading a horror spinoff from the latter title, however, the director has also been trying to bring a new film adaptation of the Mortal Kombat video games to life since 2015.

If you were wondering if this Mortal Kombat movie would be a continuation of the last one that was released (Mortal Kombat Annihilation released in 1997) then I can tell you that its not.
