Mad scramble for cash after armoured auto spills $260000 on Atlanta highway

Randrell Lewis brought back $2,100 that spilled out from an armored truck on a highway in Georgia

Around $250,000 has spilled across an interstate highway in Atlanta after an armoured truck's door sprang open while it was driving.

One driver told WSB Radio: 'I saw a bunch of paper floating around in the road and everybody pulling over on the shoulder, and as I got closer I noticed it was all just cash'.

Officials were still urging greedy drivers on Wednesday to stop blocking the roadway as "THERE IS NO MORE MONEY!" police said in another post.

According to CNN, police estimate that almost $1,75,000 was spilled out when the truck's side door sprung open. It isn't clear how exactly how much money was lost during the incident, but the truck crews estimated that it was around $100,000. "Officers and the truck crew gathered a few hundred dollars that was still there when officers arrived, but plenty was taken by passerby's sticky fingers.

What we're asking the public to do is bring the money back, don't make us come looking for you, because if we do that, you probably will be charged", Dunwoody Sgt. Robert Parsons told the publication.

"I've seen it in the movies", he said.

Meanwhile, videos circulating on social media show the frenzy caused by the spilled cash.

VW, Ford broaden alliance to autonomous, electric vehicles
VW, meanwhile, has been working on MEB since 2016 and expects to build 15 million cars using the platform in the next decade. That's the automaker's in-house autonomous vehicle development unit, which now has 200 employees.

Many drivers said they were in disbelief.

This isn't the first time a do-gooder has returned money under similar circumstances. "The money needs to be returned to the owner".

As of Wednesday night, Police said five people turned in money.

Motorists driving along a busy highway in the U.S. couldn't believe their eyes when thousands of dollars of cash began raining down right in front of them.

"They were going into the woods, jumping over the walls, doing everything they can to find the money", Parsons said with a chuckle, adding there wasn't any left.

"If the money is turned in, we will not criminally charge those who do the right thing", Sergeant Parsons said.
