Serena, Halep cruise into Wimbledon final

Breaking Majors record is the reason why Serena Williams plays again-Coach

Chasing a second major after finally breaking through at last year's French Open, Halep will play seven-times champion Serena Williams in Saturday's championship decider.

On Thursday, Halep showed her more adventurous side to defeat first-time semi-finalist Elina Svitolina 6-1, 6-3 at Wimbledon.

Williams is once again on the verge of an eighth Wimbledon championship and 24th Grand Slam title, moving into the final at the All England Club with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over an overmatched Barbora Strycova of the Czech Republic on Thursday. I'm really excite and also nervous to be in the final. "I know I'm improving and I just needed to feel good and then I can do what I do best which is play tennis".

Halep will need to believe in her game more than ever when she takes on Serena Williams in the final on Saturday. Her last title came in the 2017 Australian Open and her last Wimbledon title came in 2016.

The seventh seed, Halep has only been triumphant once in 10 meetings, a straight-sets win at the round robin stage of the 2014 WTA Finals in Singapore, but that result is remembered.

Williams has served 45 aces on her way to the final and won three quarters of points on her first serve.

Strycova would repeatedly flex or shake her legs between points or try to stretch in her sideline chair by pulling her right foot onto her left knee and rocking her leg.

It was only a temporary lull in the onslaught.

How can Halep stop her?

Svitolina even earned three break chances in that opening game, but Halep eventually held there on the 16th point.

Novak Djokovic overcomes plucky Bautista Agut to reach Wimbledon final
Only five points went against serve in the first seven games as the two gladiators settled into their groove. He's dropped just one set in the last two rounds. "I didn't receive well today", the 33-year-old said.

Halep seemed headed for a long day when her semifinal against Svitolina began with a pair of games encompassing 32 points across 20 minutes.

But Williams, who delighted home fans by partnering Murray in the mixed here, was in no mood for nonsense. "It is one of the best moments of my life", said Halep. "I have a great job and I'm still pretty good at what I do". His extended period of failing to compete made his sudden emergence all the more dramatic, but Serena almost died a couple years ago and deserves the same - if not more - unbridled enthusiasm when she wins her next Grand Slam, whenever that may be. I really think it did. Visit SportsLine now to see Gavin Mair's strong picks for Halep vs. Williams, all from the acclaimed expert who correctly predicted world No. 1 and pre-Wimbledon favorite Ash Barty would be eliminated early.

"There's so many impressive things about her", Williams said of Halep.

"She played unbelievable. That makes me know that. she can get there again".

"I plan to be the best version of myself and fight to the end". As Jon mentioned, Serena hasn't responded particularly well to pressure in her two Grand Slam finals P.O.

"There's so many impressive things about her".

"I was really calm".

And after an up-and-down first half of the year, due in part to injury and illness, she sure does appear to have lifted her level considerably.

The Wimbledon final comes shortly after Harper's Bazaar published an essay by Williams in which she detailed her feelings after last year's contentious U.S. Open final against Naomi Osaka, which she said led her to seek therapy.
