West Brom youngster completes move to Spanish giants Barcelona

The Birmingham-born 16-year-old, who has represented Ireland at underage level, will go into the Catalan club's U19s A squad on a three-year deal.

Barcelona have signed teenage West Brom striker Louie Barry, the LaLiga giants have announced.

Louie Barry, 16, is an English striker who has been on the radar of most European sides for a couple of years now.

PSG had also lodged an interest in Barry who underwent a medical with the French club before he changed his mind joined the Spanish champions instead.

Barca are excited by Barry's potential.

Although West Brom will understandably be disappointed and frustrated to lose one of their academy graduates who potentially has a huge future they will also see this as an opportunity in which Barry has been unable to turn down. Club technical director Luke Dowling confirmed to the Express and Star that the youngster had been offered a three-year deal, with the first 12 months a scholarship followed by a two-year professional contract.

Though Barry is yet to make a first-team appearance for West Brom, his signature was being chased by a number of elite clubs across the continent, who were impressed by his stellar form on the worldwide stage.
