Air New Zealand and Qantas have announced plans for a reciprocal codeshare agreement that leverages the strengths of each carrier's domestic networks, making travel within Australia and New Zealand easier. It will be the third attempt by the airlines to work more closely together. That would have involved Qantas paying $550 million for a 22.5 per cent cornerstone shareholding in Air New Zealand, as both battled in a tough environment immediately after the 9/11 terror attacks. Revenue collection from Goods and Services Tax ( GST ) declined to Rs 94,016 cr in May, witnessing a sharp drop from the Rs 1.03 lakh cr mop-up in April. The government is targeting Rs1 trillion in GST collection every month and is hoping that anti-tax evasion measures, such as e-way bill, invoice matching and reverse charge mechanism (wherein a registered buyer would have to pay tax on behalf of an unregistered seller), will improve compliance.
