In a news release posted Wednesday, CDC officials said that eight people had been hospitalized. Identifying information about the patient in NY who died has not been released. Salmonella illness usually begins between 12 and 72 hours after consuming the bacteria. Salmonella is a bacterial infection that can cause nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, fever and chills, among other symptoms, according to the Mayo Clinic . (more...)
