Wednesday morning, officials said. More than 70 people fell ill from suspected drug overdoses on the green and were taken to local hospitals. Dr. Kathryn Hawk, an Emergency Department physician at Yale New Haven Hospital , told the New Haven Register that the Drug Enforcement Administration confirmed the drugs contained K2 mixed with fentanyl, a synthetic opioid that's roughly 50 times more potent than heroin. On the green, Narcan wasn't having much of an impact reversing the effects of the overdoses, but rather only at hospitals where it was administered in much larger doses. Police told WFSB that at least one person was arrested on the green and that an unidentified person was given an infraction for selling drugs.
