A Japanese probe has reached an asteroid 300 million kilometres away to collect information about the birth of the solar system and the origin of life after a more than three-year voyage through deep space . In December 2015, Hayabusa2 performed a swing-by using the Earth's gravity to accelerate and then shifted to Ryugu's orbit to chase the asteroid. Juno took the photo on May 23 as it performed its 13th close flyby of the gas giant. "The region seen here is somewhat chaotic and turbulent, given the various swirling cloud formations", NASA said on its website. The oval structure, which is located at the bottom of the picture, when observed using ground-based telescopes seems to be pure white, but in the picture "Juno" you can see the darker structures located in it.
