Goats Want to See You Smile, Says Adorable New Study

This was particularly the case when the happy faces were positioned on the right of the test arena - suggesting goats use the left hemisphere of their brains to process positive emotion. Goats recognise and are attracted to happy humans, a study has found. To better understand how well goats respond to human social cues, the scientific academy gathered 20 goats who were "habituated to human presence" from Buttercups Sanctuary for Goats in the United Kingdom. This is what Environment Canada posted at 9:55 p.m. Environment Canada's Ryan Rozinskis told Rock 95 News there was a report of tornado shortly after 8:00 Monday evening in the Edgar/Hawkestone-area, and another possible touchdown in the area before the funnel cloud moved out over Lake Simcoe. Overnight low temperatures will be in the low 20s, providing little relief from the sweltering heat. Watson says the hornets aggressively defend the nest and can sting repeatedly. He said the hornets weren't saved because they don't pollinate like honey bees. (more...)

Researchers found that both verbal and math scores "decreased with increasing cumulative air pollution exposure", with the decline in verbal scores being particularly pronounced among older, less educated men. When you factor in the humidity it'll feel more like the mid to upper 90s! However, there is some relief during the evening hours as the overnight temperatures will drop to the low 20s. Environment Canada reminds people not to leave people or pets in parked vehicles. If that wasn't a good indication that summer is going nowhere fast, this week will certainly be a good reminder of that as high heat and humidity build. (more...)

Daniel, Jack and Matthew Aplin were driving along on a track near Red Rocks on the city's south coast when they came across the massive beached cephalod. Giant squid spend their time in the deep sea and rarely surface, so it's unclear how this four-metre youngster ended up on a beach. They catch prey using two tentacles, gripping it with serrated sucker rings, then bring it toward the powerful beak and shred it before ingesting it. (more...)

Lead author Shuai Li of the University of Hawaii and Brown University told USA TODAY this water ice can be "mined easily" for drinking water and rocket fuel. Ice is very rare on the moon's surface , Li said. A study published the following year in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences concluded that water is likely widespread within the moon's rocky interior, in concentrations ranging from 64 parts per billion to five parts per million.
