Astronaut dials 911 from space Astronaut dials 911 from space

On all accounts, the process to reach an global line seems very much the same as it does for someone calling from a space station as it is for someone calling from a landline in any non-U.S. He was orbiting the Earth on the International Space Station (ISS ) when he tried to contact the Johnson Space Center. "I made a mistake, and the next day I received an email message: did you call 911?" "I was a little disappointed that they had not come up", joked Kuipers. (more...)

The spacecrafts are aptly named after the legend of the Chinese goddess Chang'e , who is said to have lived on the moon for a Millennia. Li Fei, one of the designers of the lander, said when the process began , an engine was ignited to lower the craft's relative velocity from 1.7 km per second to close to zero, and the probe's attitude was adjusted to face the moon and descend vertically.
