"We don't evacuate our animals since hurricanes can change direction at the last minute and you run the risk of evacuating to a more risky location", the Miami-Dade Zoological Park and Gardens, home to 3,000 animals, said in a statement this week. According to the state of Florida's executive order, the five-day forecast from the National Hurricane Center predicts that by Saturday, Sept. 9, Hurricane Irma will be located somewhere north of Cuba and south of the Andros Islands in the Bahamas. As of Thursday afternoon, the National Weather Service's Peachtree City weather station says there's an 80 percent chance of rain in Athens on Monday, increasing to 90 percent Monday night.
