The European Commission has turned up the heat on social media companies by issuing new guidelines created to increase swift and proactive removal of illegal online content inciting hatred, violence and terrorism. Among other things, it called on tech comapnies to review the "majority" of valid notifications for the removal of hate speech in less than 24 hours, and to and remove or disable access to the content if required.
