US President Donald Trump today denounced racism as "evil" as he slammed white supremacist and neo-Nazi groups for the weekend violence in Charlottesville , describing them as "criminals and thugs". Democratic senator Mark Warner of Virginia said he wished Mr Trump "would have said those same words on Saturday ".
