The surveillance video shows the suspects ditching a wrecked auto moments before trying to steal the vehicle Monday. Two of the gunmen forced the woman driving the auto and her 11-month-old niece out of the vehicle. The woman and infant were not harmed, HPD said. Investigators were able to identify one of four suspects as Mertroy Harris, 27. He is facing charges of murder and felony deadly conduct. (more...)

"Reality and common business sense dictate that infrastructure should be reconfigured to meet specific needs and changing threats", it adds. ABC-TV Channel 7 reported that the fire broke out after an explosion at the refinery, threatening storage tanks. Police advised nearby residents to stay indoors and close their doors and windows. The Chevron refinery, just south of Los Angeles International Airport, is the largest refinery on the West Coast. It did not immediately appear the smoke was interfering with flights. (more...)
