The Ulchi-Freedom Guardian drills have taken place every two years and will kick off just as the US prepares for a total solar eclipse that will track across the entire country. There will be additional troops participating from Canada, Denmark, Australia, Colombia, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and New Zealand. In response to Trump's comments, North Korea announced that it would launch four intermediate ballistic missiles near Guam by mid-August. Kim Jong-un, earlier this week, made a decision to put the missile attack plans on hold "in order to defuse the tensions" with the USA, adding he wanted to watch how the United States behaves a little more before launching the offensive.
